I completed my studies in Marriage and Family Counseling at Northwest Nazarene University. I have worked as a resource specialist, teacher, and small claims mediator. I am a wife and mother with 6 children ages 10 to 37.

I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups to problem solve and uncover new areas of positive engagement. Sometimes people get stuck in what they are doing. We tend to do the same things looking for different results.

I enjoy working with people to help them clarify their goals and move forward with plans to help achieve what they are after.

I have a particular interest in helping people regain relationships. With couples it is incorporating the past and the future. Today's families are complicated; navigating step families, parent child, couple's and in-law relationships are not things they teach us in school. Knowledgeable support can be key.

My approach to counseling is through power of choice and a realistic look at strengths and options. I believe that you are the expert of your own life and with clarity more options are available to you.

Wendi Densley

LPC-7643

NCC-1230350

I completed my Master’s degree in School Counseling with an emphasis in Play Therapy and Grief & Trauma Counseling from Northwest Nazarene University in December of 2019. I have worked as an elementary education teacher, youth pastor, and most recently a school counselor. I am a wife and mother of 2 sons. I’ve lived in Idaho for most of life, minus a two year stint where my husband and I called Texas home.

I enjoy working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I specifically love using play therapy to help adolescents and children express themselves in ways beyond just using words. Beyond play therapy, I place high significance in meeting individuals, couples, families where they are at. To quote one of boy’s favorite authors Dr Seuss, “A person is a person no matter how small.” My role as a counselor is to equip people to successfully accomplish their goals, whatever those may be.

Jessica Ayers

2nd Year Intern

Level 2

I am currently completing my Master’s degree at Northwest Nazarene University in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling with an emphasis on trauma. As a Marriage and Family therapy intern, I am completing my hours towards state licensure.I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and spent 5 years as a paraprofessional for children with spectrum disorders and emotional disturbances.

I am a mother of three amazing children and have been married to my high school sweetheart for 15 years. When I am not in class or counseling, I spend a great deal of time outdoors with my family camping and exploring. I enjoy studying holistic and energy healing modalities, and can often be found expanding my knowledge under a pile of educational books.

I enjoy working with families, couples, and individuals and apply a Satir Growth Model lens in my sessions. It is my belief that all humans are inherently good and possess all the necessary tools to move towards congruence and greater self-esteem, they just need to find ways to best cope with their challenges.

It is of the utmost importance to me that all humans who come into my vicinity feel seen, heard, and are treated with unconditional positive regard. Empowerment, self-esteem, and self-love are extremely important aspects I incorporate into my therapeutic relationship.

With an emphasis on trauma, I believe in healing the Mind/Body connection through mindfulness and self-care practices. I strongly believe in our bodies own innate ability to heal itself through somatic and psychotherapeutic interventions.

Terry Rasmussen

3rd Year Intern

Level 3

I am currently in my second year of studies at Northwest Nazarene University to obtain my Master of Science in Counseling Education.

As an intern, I am working towards fulfilling my hours for licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Boise State University.

I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and the entire family unit.

I also have an understanding and connection to military active duty and veterans. My approach to counseling is through the lens of Alfred Adler’s Individual Psychology in addition to Solution-Oriented Possibility Therapy and the Family Systems approach.

When working with individuals/couples/families in distress, I find it valuable to work with them in producing change and finding solutions to being stuck. The solution to any personal or family problem is within us and can be found with exploration.

I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and I am comfortable exploring issues of spirituality throughout the counseling process. However, it is not required that you be a Christian to participate in counseling with me. I will at all times, respect your personal beliefs, and seek to provide an environment of dignity and respect to all.

Personal Interests:

I have been married for 20+ years to my wonderful wife and have an awesome child.

When not in a class, or counseling, I enjoy spending as much quality time with my family as I can. We love to travel, have been to some fantastic places, and frequently take road trips to new and exciting places.

Darla Trent

2nd Year

Level 1

I am currently a master’s level student at Northwest Nazarene University working towards a degree in Clinical Counseling with an emphasis in both Trauma and Play Therapy. I have a Bachelor of Science in Marriage and Family Studies and have spent numerous hours working with children first as a stay-at-home mother and then a school-based paraprofessional and Community Based Rehabilitation Specialist.

I have been married to my sweetheart for 30+ years and have 6 children and 4 grandchildren. My family, along with counseling, are the center of my universe and through them I find insight, compassion, and heartfelt warmth.

I have a special love for play therapy and am honored to work not only with children and adolescents, but also adults and groups as they externalize their conflicts and burdens through sand, play, art, and other creative avenues. Often it is the outward expression of internal thoughts and feelings which provide the needed clarification to grow and move forward.

I am also completing Internal Family Systems Level 1 training through the IFS-Institute and am privileged to work with individuals as they expand their focus not only outward but inward. Introspection provides a path to self-led parts and energy full of courage, confidence, compassion, curiosity, and many other self-produced strengths.

I believe in a client-focused relationship and feel individuals are the authority of their own lives. My job as a counselor is not to lead but instead to walk the path together, for it is through this journey self-awareness is discovered and solutions are found.
